ODM, or original design manufacturing, is also referred to as “private labeling.”
ODM can provide a full range of services in terms of product maintenance, production, and product development based on the product requirements put forward by customers, such as functional requirements and product production ideas. Enterprises in the traditional OEM basis, but also includes development and design, maintenance, after-sales service and so on.

ODM means that after a manufacturer designs a product, in some cases, it may be regarded by some other enterprises, requiring the latter’s brand name to produce, or slightly modify the design to produce. Among them, the manufacturers who undertake the design and manufacturing business are called ODM manufacturers, and the products they produce are ODM products.

Product solutions designed by ODM manufacturers can be provided to brand owners by means of buyout or non-buyout:

1. Buyout method: The brand owner buys the design of a certain type of product ready made by the ODM manufacturer, or the brand owner separately requires the ODM manufacturer to design the product scheme for himself.

2. Non-buyout method: The brand owner does not buy the design of a model product of the ODM manufacturer, ODM manufacturers can take the design of the same model product to sell to other brands at the same time. When two or more brands share a design, the difference between the two brands’ products is primarily in appearance.
